For podcasters
Listeners use Quoth to send each other the part of an episode that mattered. Here's what that looks like for your show, and how to opt out if you'd rather not be on it.
How clips work
A listener types the show and the line they remember. Quoth finds it in a transcript and makes a short link, like quoth.fm/k3x9, that plays just that part. Whoever opens the link sees the quote, hears the clip, and sees your show named and credited.
- Short. A Quote clip is up to about 90 seconds. A Segment is up to 5 minutes. Nothing longer can be made.
- Attributed. Every clip shows your show’s name and artwork, the episode title and the timestamp, as a citation. We never present a clip as made or endorsed by the show.
- Linked to the full episode. Every clip has a “Keep listening in your app” link that opens the whole episode at that moment.
- No downloads. There’s no download, no video export and no poster frame. A clip only exists as a Quoth link.
- Not a mirror. We fetch an episode’s audio from your public feed to make a transcript, and delete that full audio within about 7 days. We keep the transcript so the next listener can find a line quickly.
Opt your show out
If you’d rather listeners couldn’t clip your show, you can opt it out. When a show is opted out, we remove every existing clip of it, delete their audio, and stop anyone from making new ones. People who try will be told the show has opted out.
The fastest route is a request from the email address in your show’s RSS feed. We’ll send a code to that address, and once you confirm it the opt-out takes effect straight away. Without that, we’ll look at the request by hand.
Remove a single clip
If it’s one clip rather than the whole show, use the takedown link at the bottom of the clip page, or see Copyright & DMCA for how notices work.
Claim your show (coming later)
We’d like to give shows a way to claim their page, see how listeners are sharing them, and set their own preferences. That isn’t built yet. If you want to hear when it is, email podcasters@quoth.fm.
